Okay, okay, I FINALLY got around to this book that I've been meaning to read and the only thing I can think of is, "why didn't I read it sooner"?! I devoured this book in one snow day and I want more! More of Laurel Forte! Not more snow!Little 'Ol Me is based on a true story which takes place in the town I live in and while I don't personally know the author or any of the characters, I know of them and you probably will too.
Laurel Forte is a kick ass main character! Must say that I loved her attitude from the beginning. After getting struck by lightning, finding out she's pregnant, getting married and divorced, Laurel's priorities are all about her son. When Laurel's friends set her up with Bryan, everything just falls into place! Bryan and Laurel have a great relationship and he's great with Hunter, Laurel's son. Bryan and his friends sign a deal for a television show and everything changes. Laurel's life is once again turned upside down yet she proves how strong and determined she is to protect her child and move on with her life.
I honestly can't wait for the next book in the Laurel Forte Series!

Excellent read! The writer knows how to capture the attention of her audience. I admire her strength and courage it took to write about her personal experiences. I couldn't put the book down!!!! Can't wait for part 2.

It is a fantastic story about perseverance and staying to one's beliefs and truths. A telling of a real life.
I am not one to read that many books and when I do they usually take me a while to get through. This book on the other hand I read in two days! It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next. I love how into the book you get, if Laurel was mad you were mad, if she was sad you were sad. I have to say she was a strong strong person I don't think I could have held it together the way she did. She is amazing. And so is her book!!
I choose this rating because as i got into the book, I couldn't put it down.. wanting to read each chapter to find out more about the authors life...i would recommend the book to both young adults and older ones like myself.... She talks about her struggles of everyday life, so true to most of us in today's society, like how she made wrong choices, but owned up to them, and how her parents and family members never turned their backs on her throughout all of her mistakes, but continued to support her..... I'm looking forward to her next book when it comes out, to continue to follow her true life story.....
The early parts of this book keep the reader in such senses-prompted suspense. I don't normally go for suspense, but it works so swimmingly in this case. And the author truly goes out of her way, with a uniquely thoughtful nature, to keep fairness in the picture when portraying different perspectives in characters besides Little 'Ol Me herself. This is truly a story that needed to be told for her heart's sake, and reading the final pages of the book made it all the harder to want it to end and wait for another volume! I admire the bravery of bringing out such difficult details on the page, especially with how unbelievable some of it sounds, but we know while humans can be great to each other, they can also do unconscionable damage to each other's bones. The world needs more honesty, not less, and this comes through so genuinely in the book, which I would say happens to set a great example for people in general. I hope they learn well from it. Stories are what help us all to understand each other better, and I admire that this author was strong enough to make this happen for herself. So many of us are broken, even if we don't want to outwardly acknowledge it. But facing and giving attention to the specifics of our situations is what helps us to persevere in the world. So many stories aren't told, which is sad. But this book's author believes in herself enough to speak what she needs to voice, and I'm glad for this.
